Raymond "Ray" Bruce, Jr.

ILION – Mr. Raymond "Ray" Bruce, Jr. age 55, a native of Ilion, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 in the privacy and comfort of his home. 

Born on January 26, 1964, Raymond was the son of Bonnie White and the late Raymond Bruce, Sr. He was raised in Ilion and received his education in local schools. On January 5, 1991, he was blessed to wed the former Lisa Sullivan and together they shared in over twenty-eight years of marriage. 

In his working years, Ray drove cab for various companies and worked as a janitor for the Herkimer ARC.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his children, Heather Dennison and her fiancee, Dave of Sauquoit, Joshua Bruce, Raymond Bruce and Rachel Bruce; his brothers, Claude Bruce and his wife, Betty of Mohawk, Jeff Bruce and his wife, Carleen of Mohawk and Donnie Bruce and his wife, Cindi of Rome; and his sister, Bonnie Everson and husband, Jeff of Herkimer. Ray's wishes are to honor his friend, Rick Riesel.

Ray was predeceased by his father, Raymond, Sr., his brother, Johnny, and his sister, Marianne. The family would also like to acknowledge that there are many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandchildren. 

A very special thank you to the Hospice staff who have attended to not only Ray in the last few months, but went above and beyond to attend to the whole family during Ray's struggle with cancer. Also, a special thank you to Christine Roberts and Jennifer Davis for all that they have done for Ray and his family. 

Ray was a dedicated family man who loved and took care of his family with all his heart. He always put the needs of others before himself.   

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Ray’s calling hours on Wednesday afternoon, December 4, 2019 from 1:00PM – 2:30PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. His funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday at 2:30PM, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Spring interment will take place at Armory Hill Cemetery at the convenience of Ray’s family.
