Obituary of Mary F. Calicchia

LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Mary F. Calicchia, age 88, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, New York, namely Woodside Avenue, passed away, on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Valley Health Services, in Herkimer, New York, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 4, 1934, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Germiro ‘James’ and Rose Bonanni. She graduated from Little Falls schools and with the high school, ‘Class of 1951.’ She was married to Rocco Calicchia, on November 27, 1971 and he preceded her in death, on Feb. 25, 2003. She was employed for many years inclusive to National Automotive Fibers, Dr. Burke/Vickers, Western Union, MDS, then with Dr. Burke, a cumulative employment with him as a receptionist for over 40 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and the choir. Mary’s sweet nature was evident to her friends and especially her family who all loved her so. She could often be found enjoying travelling, watching the New York Mets, going to dinner and even bowling. She shared many joyous and memorable occasions with her loved ones and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her stepchildren, Mark and wife, Carol Calicchia and Marcia Calicchia; her brother, Frank Bonanni and wife, Dorothy, of Roslindale, MA, and her sister Nancy (Bonanni) Tretola. Her husband, Michael Tretola, predeceased Mary and also predeceased, are brothers, Anthony Bonanni and his wife, Sophie and Lawrence Bonanni and his wife, Mildred. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including Audrey and George Murray, James and Pam Tretola, Rosemarie and Dennis Leffingwell, Michele and Keith Burton and Mary and Steven LaBreche. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls and at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Parish Church, located at 763 E. Main Street/corner of John St., Little Falls, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Brian Slezak, Pastor. There are calling hours on Thursday, Oct. 20th, from 4-6 p.m., at the funeral home. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the calling hours and Funeral Services. Interment will follow the Mass, on Friday, in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. It is the wish of the family that donations in loving memory of Mary be considered to the Holy Family Parish, 763 East Main Street, Little Falls, New York, 13365. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home for this purpose and this is encouraged over floral offerings.
