Obituary of Harriette Loiacano

Mrs. Harriette M. Loiacano, 82, of 111 Kent Boulevard, Ilion, town of Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at St. Luke's-Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. She was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Cedarville, the daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Marriott) Welch and began her schooling in Columbia schools. She was a graduate of West Winfield High School. Harriette joined in marriage with Sam F. Loiacano on Dec. 6, 1941, in West Winfield. The couple had recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They had resided in Ilion since 1960. Harriette worked for many years at the Mohawk Valley General Hospital in Ilion as an assistant dietitian. She enjoyed membership with the Herkimer County Humane Society for many years as a reflection of her love for animals. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort. She is survived by her beloved husband, Sam; two special nieces, Donna Welch of Clinton and Joanne Hillage and husband Harold of Eaton; also many other special nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, including Virginia Papa and husband Emilio of Frankfort, Mary Cushman and husband Frank of Mohawk, Beatrice Tocco and husband Joseph of Cedarville, Mamie Bello and husband Joseph of Frankfort, Joseph Loiacano of Ilion and Thomas Loiacano and wife Emilia of Frankfort. She was predeceased by three brothers, Russell Welch, Ralph Welch and Gilbert Welch and a sister, Gertrude Welch. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion, and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street, Frankfort, with the Rev. John Yanas, pastor, celebrating her Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday (tonight) from 5-8 p.m. Those wishing are asked to consider donations in memory of Harriette to the Herkimer County Humane Society, as Harriette loved cats.
